Nursery & Children's Room Art: Tips for Choosing the Perfect Piece

When you are designing your nursery or children's room, you're not just decorating a room, but you're creating a world where your little one will dream, grow, and feel safe. I believe that one of the most personal touches you can add to that space is artwork. Art has a unique way of speaking to the heart, sometimes saying things that my words cannot fully express in a blog post. Art brings joy, comfort, and imagination even from the earliest days. One of my favorite reminders of this is from my sweet three-year-old neighbor, Max. Every time I see him, he excitedly talks about the animals in my Noah's Ark print hanging in his room. It's such a reminder of how even the smallest pieces of art can make a lasting impression.

Tips for Choosing the Perfect Piece(s)

1) Choose a piece that tells a story!

Here are some of my personal favorite prints!

  • The Noah's Ark prints because it is one of the most beloved Bible stories and reminds us of faith, trust, and God's promises.
  • Bible verse art makes a meaningful gift for baptisms, baby showers, or birthdays. I especially love when a verse is chosen to be a child's "life verse" — a guiding promise they can carry with them as they grow.
  • Ducks, fish, or animal prints are a great way to bring nature into your little one's space. They are a favorite for dads who want to share their love of the outdoors with their little ones!
  • Dog Art to celebrate your furry friends!
  • Bunnies & Butterflies often bring a sense of peacefulness, love, and joy to a space.

2) Choose calming or uplifting colors

If you know my art, then you know that I am not shy of color! I love a space with soft pastels or pops of bright colors. This makes a space feel peaceful and calm while also encouraging some playfulness.

3) Choosing the right size

Some of my most favorite spaces are those that have a larger statement canvas on a wall followed by framed prints on a different wall.

One of the most common questions I get from customers decorating their little one’s space is, "What size artwork do you recommend over a crib?"

To make it easier, I’ve listed my favorite size options below and included photos of each for reference. I hope this helps you find the perfect fit for your nursery or bedroom!
